UAP Clinic Patient & Visitors Center: EducationHow well are you sleeping? Heart Attack Warning Signs
As with men, women's most common heart attack symptom is chest pain or discomfort, according to the American Heart Association. But women are somewhat more likely than men to experience some of the other common symptoms, particularly shortness of breath, nausea/vomiting, and back or jaw pain. If you or someone you're with has chest discomfort, especially with one or more of the other signs, call 9-1-1 for help. Get to a hospital right away. Stroke Warning Signs The American Stroke Association says these are the warning signs of stroke:
If you or someone with you has one or more of these signs, don't delay! Immediately call 9-1-1 so an ambulance can be sent. Also, check the time so you will know when the first symptoms appeared. It is very important to take immediate action. If given within three hours of the start of symptoms, a clot-busting drug can reduce long-term disability for the most common type of stroke, according to the American Heart Association. |
